Finding a business that doesn’t have a social media presence is difficult these days. In fact, if you’re a small business without a social media presence, it is highly recommended to get one as soon as possible. But just having a social media presence isn’t enough. With the market expanding, it is important to boost your social media marketing game so you don’t get lost in the crowd.
As mentioned in our last post, small businesses are currently seeing an incredible opportunity in social media marketing and have an equal playing field – or perhaps the upper hand – with big brands. However, that is rapidly changing, and small businesses need to take action now to expand and improve their social media presence before big brands take over.
How can a small business boost its social media presence?
1. Cater to your target audience.
As we have stated over and over again, if there’s one thing you must do well as a small business, it’s knowing your target audience. What do your clients and customers enjoy? How should you speak to them? Are you understanding what they want from you and your business? Knowing the answers to these questions is essential if you want to have a strong presence on social media.
2. Highlight your unique competitive advantage.
What is it that you offer that your clients and customers can’t get anywhere else? What makes your company unique and worth coming back to again and again? Perhaps it’s your product. Perhaps it’s the value. Most likely, it’s a combination of product, value, and quality service. Whatever it is, make sure you are loud and clear about what your company is about and what makes you stand out from the next guy.
3. Increase the quantity and quality of your content online.
A once a week posting strategy won’t cut it for much longer. You need to have regular, planned posts that cater to your audience. Shooting for three posts a week should be a minimum, but daily content is best. But don’t just post anything. Thinking back to your target audience and to your unique competitive advantage, come up with posts that appeal to your audience and highlight who you are. Don’t worry about having the highest quality of performance; rather, focus on excitement, engagement, and helpfulness of what you’re offering.
4.Regularly post videos to different social media sites.
Don’t worry about having a fancy video production team. Everything you need for quality video posts can come from your smartphone. Social media video isn’t about having HD quality film. It’s about engaging with people “face to face.” So, throw out some raw footage on Facebook Live or on your Instagram story. Create a few videos for YouTube and let your customers and clients see you and further their relationship with you through your social media posts.
Being involved on social media is one of the best moves you can make for your business. And improving your social media presence is likely the best move you could make during 2017. Don’t wait until it’s too late; start improving your presence online today.
